Yahl, D.M.<\/strong>,&nbsp;is <strong>Visiting Associate Director of Bands <\/strong>and <strong>Director of Athletic Bands<\/strong> at Miami University. &nbsp;Prior to this appointment he served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Texas A&amp;M University-Commerce for five years, and as a part-time Assistant Professor of Music at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. &nbsp;Dr. Yahl taught middle school and high school band for nine years in Northwest and West-Central Ohio. &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Yahl earned his bachelors (2006) and masters (2009) degrees in music education from Bowling Green State University, and his doctorate in wind conducting (2018) from the Jacobs School of Music at&nbsp;Indiana University. &nbsp;Yahl studied percussion with Michael Sander and Roger Schupp, and conducting with Emily Freeman Brown, Carol Hayward, Kenneth Thompson, Bruce Moss, Walter Huff, and Stephen Pratt. Yahl was a recipient of the &nbsp;Dr. Richard and Annette Ecker Award in Music Education, the Mark and Helen Kelly University Band Award, and the Ray E. Chris is a former member of the tuba section (\u201993-97) as well as Graduate Teaching Assistant (\u201903-05). In the role of Associate Director, his duties include administrative, financial, logistical, and instructional support for the MUMB and Basketball\/Hockey Band. Chris&#8217; primary role at Miami University is serving as Director of Integrated Technology for the College of Creative Arts. During those years Kent has participated as a member of the trombone section, as a volunteer staff member, and, since 1987, as the Assistant Director. As Assistant Director, Kent is involved with many of the logistical, administrative, and financial activities of the band. Kent is also an active participant in the Miami University Pep Bands and a life member of Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary fraternity for college band members. Kent considers the Marching Band as his &#8220;fun&#8221; job &#8211; a departure from his full-time job with Miami University&#8217;s IT Services department. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Miami University in 2012.<br><br>Alex is currently the co\u00addirector of percussion at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. A founding member of Allegoria Winterguard and a featured weapon specialist with a passion for rifle, she is also experienced in sabre, airblade, standard flag, and dance. Her performance career includes Zydeco Independent A, Allegoria Independent A and Independent Open, Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, the Miami University Marching Band, and Carlisle High School.<br><br>Her instructional experience spans several programs, including the Savannah (TN) High School Marching Tigers, Carlisle High School Colorguard and Winterguard, and assisting with Wilmington and Madison High School teams.<br><br>She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (2016) and has completed both a BA (May 2025) and MS (August 2025) in Computer Science at Miami University, where she is now pursuing her PhD in Computer Science. He served as a high school band director in the public schools of Florida for 10 years before pursuing his doctorate. Under his direction, ensembles have consistently earned Superior ratings at the Marching Music Performance Assessment, District and State Solo and Ensemble, and District and State Concert MPA.<br><br>Research interests for Farr include commissioning new music for the wind band medium, pioneering performances of music by underrepresented composers, best practices for middle and high school bands, and mental health awareness for music educators. He is actively sought after as a concert clinician and clarinet pedagogue.
